Above-Ground Pool Care
1. Specialized Chemical Balancing
Liner Safety: Never drop chlorine tablets directly onto the floor. This causes "liner bleaching," which makes the vinyl brittle and prone to tearing. Always use a floating dispenser or an inline chlorinator.
pH & Alkalinity: High heat in Arizona causes fast evaporation, which spikes your pH. We keep your levels locked in to prevent "scaling" on the walls and equipment.
2. Filtration & Circulation
Run Times: To combat the Havasu sun, the pump should run 8–12 hours a day.
Filter Cleaning: Most above-ground pools use cartridge filters. These need to be sprayed out every 2–4 weeks depending on bather load and wind-blown dust.
3. Physical Maintenance
Gentle Brushing: Use only nylon-bristle brushes. Metal brushes (designed for concrete pools) will destroy a vinyl liner instantly.
Vacuuming: Manual vacuuming or a specialized "suction-side" cleaner designed for vinyl helps prevent algae from taking root in the floor seams.
4. Protecting the Structure
Water Line Care: Use a vinyl-safe cleaner to wipe down the "scum line" at the top of the pool. This prevents the sun from "baking" oils and dirt into the liner.
External Inspection: Regularly check the metal uprights and bottom rails for signs of rust or shifting.
Let the Pros Handle the Heavy Lifting
Whether you need a brand-new installation or a "Green-to-Clean" recovery for your existing above-ground pool, Patriot Pool Pros LLC has the expertise to get it done right.
Above-Ground Pool Installation
A proper installation ensures the pool stays level and the liner lasts for years. We recommend a professional setup to avoid the common "collapsed wall" or "unlevel floor" issues.
1. Site Preparation & Leveling
The Foundation: The ground must be completely level within 1 inch across the entire diameter. We remove all grass and debris, as decaying organic matter can cause the pool floor to shift or smell.
Mason Sand Base: We use a layer of masonry sand to create a smooth, cushioned floor that protects the vinyl liner from rocks or sharp roots.
2. Wall Assembly & "The Cove"
Structural Integrity: The metal walls are bolted together and reinforced. We then install a "pool cove" a transition of sand or pre-made foam around the inside perimeter to prevent the liner from slipping under the wall.

3. Liner Seating & Filling
Vacuum Sealing: For a wrinkle-free finish, we use a specialized vacuum to pull the liner tight against the walls before the water goes in.
Gradual Filling: Water is added slowly to ensure the weight settles the liner perfectly into place.
